My Interview

Thanks to all of you who sent me well wishes, I appreciate it more than you will ever know!

I survived!

Whew!

Let me start from the beginning.....I was born on a cold.....haha, just kidding.

Seriously though. It's been almost 4 years since I have worked a REAL job, outside of my home and it is time to go back. I decided that once my girls were back in school this year, I would start the hunt. That horrible hunt of ~ where to start? where to go? what do I do?

So our local newspaper had an ad posted almost at the same exact time that school was to start, for a job with the City Court as a Deputy Clerk. Basically, it's a lot of computer work, filing, deposits, handling phone calls. Easy peasey, been there done that.

Resume' updated.......check!
Application in..............check!
Sister talking it up for me......check! My sister works and has worked for several attorneys here in our small town and now works for the public defenders office in the court house. She has connections, so I can use her like that.

Last Monday I got a call from the lady that is in charge of the interviewing for the position and she scheduled me for today. I was thrilled. Only for a couple days until I found out that there were 15 applicants being interviewed. Wow! That is a bunch of competition and in our small city of approximately 12,000 people, good jobs are hard to come by.

But alas, I held my head up high and went on my merry way. I met the lady, and we hit it off instantly laughing and talking and doing the ordinary interview type stuff.

Then she tells me (besides the fact that there are 15 other applicants being interviewed) that she is NOT the one who is doing the actual decision making in who they hire!!! After she told me that I was like WTF??

I don't understand how someone can hire 1 person out of 15 candidates, and especially if they were not even the one who sat down and talked with me.

Alright, well I got over that. A decision will or should be made by Wednesday.

I decided from the get go~ There is a place and a job for me out there somewhere. A place that was meant for me and whatever and wherever it is, I will get it. If this just happens to not be it, then I move on to the next and know that there is something better out there. However, if it was meant to be mine, I will have it, love it and do the best job that I can at it!

So the waiting begins..........

Well I'll certainly light a candle for you...

Yeah I never understood why the hiring person doesn't even bother to sit down with you... I've had a couple of those interviews before...

Anyways... congratulations on the first interview... I hope it's your last...

Oh man, I know how hard that whole waiting thing can be... But you're right, you'll find the job for you :) It may be a frustrating road sometimes (or maybe not), but you'll find it and it will be fabulous :)

I want to get an even job for a few hours..to help with the car payment and all.

I can't stand interviews..its all so dumb and phoney, ya know?

Oh, the waiting is the worst, but at least the interview is over.....nice system they have there! Sounds like she gets to tell the higher up who to hire and then they get to offer the job?

Best of luck to you Amy! That sounds like a great job. Glad you survived your interview. That is the part I hate the most.

Oh, and you cracked me up with your request for a pic of Rick's feet. I am so totally on the case! I've wanted to see his bare feet forever. Laugh if you will but I totally paused and went slow motion on the Dance this World Away video but I couldn't get a good view. I would so die of they are nasty! lol

I wish you the very best of luck. And sure so she doesn't make the final choice, but she met you and liked you and will undoubtably put a good word in for you. Unless the next person she met offered her their firstborn or something.
Many thanks for visiting on my SITS day, I really do appreciate it.

Your attitude is great. It took me two years to find my new job.. (which I've now had for a year... confused yet?) It was a long, frustrating process and it definitely made me stronger. It took me 5 interviews to finally get my current job! UGH! Such a frustrating process! Best of luck!

Thank you for coming by today. Miraculously I didn't run out of Coke. Maybe no one else likes it warm?
