The Myrtles

This past weekend, Mr Sweetie and I visited The Myrtles Plantation . This plantation home is known as "One of America's Most Haunted Homes". Now, I do like to watch things on t.v. or at the movies about scary things. However, seeing them up-close and personal gave me an uneasy feeling. We enjoyed the tour though, and I wanted to share it with you all.

This is what you see when you first arrive for the tour. (The front of the house, which is a bed and breakfast) I will never ever never sleep there, I can promise you that!

These are some statues located in front of the front steps of the house. I find them very pretty.

This is the back of the house and where you enter for the tour of the inside. To the left of this picture is where the gift shop is located and directly behind where I am taking the photo, is a restaurant.

This cute little gazebo is behind the house, across a bridge that goes across a small pond.

Here I am standing in the gazebo. Hoping and praying that when the photo came out there would be be no ghostly figure anywhere in my vicinity!
Tours start every hour on the hour and you are only able to take photos in the front entryway. I took this one of the mirror. This mirror has been known to have some sort of 'cloudy' figure in it when photographed, but alas, I had none in mine. Whew!
This piano is never played by anyone, but the tour guide says that overnight guests have heard it playing during the night. When. Nobody. Is. There!!

This chandelier was purchased in France and now graces the entryway of the home. It is said that young children can 'see' a young blonde girl playing in it (yikes) and that when they clean it, they find blonde hairs in it. I don't believe THAT! This clock supposedly goes off at around 3a.m. and it has no inner workings. The tour guide says that when they prove that fact to guests, they can't get out of the room fast enough.

There were four other rooms that we were able to view, but no photos were allowed. The tour guide kept looking at me and smiling or laughing because of the freaked out faces I was making. I tell you, I did not want to experience anything out of the ordinary.

This photo is of the back porch. I would personally love to have one like this at my home, complete with the nice rocking chairs.

This cute little house is set back aways on the property and I am not sure if it was a place for the slaves to live in back in the day or what. I thought it was pretty neat :)As we made our way around, back to the front of the house, I got a photo from the other side.

I really enjoyed the tour. The story behind the house and the history and people who lived there was very interesting. However, like I said before, I would never, ever, never sleep in this house!

Tune in tomorrow for where we went next......

That house is beautiful! I think I'd be pretty freaked out as well. My mom loves stuff like that, and even thinks that my childhood home in Beaumont (which was built in the 30's) was haunted, and in fact, some pretty weird stuff did happen there, but thankfully, I was too young to remember it!

Oh that looks like fun..We recently took Lily to The Whaley House in Old Town which is a 'haunted house' and it was so much fun..however..I was just nervous and hoping something would happen or I would get a glimpse of anything..but no such luck..however, there was one ophotograph that was questionable.
That plantations house is so beautiful.
Did your girls go too??
Were they freaked out?

What a pretty house...too bad it is haunted. So you didn't see any ghosts, but did you get that cold chills feeling like you were among spirits?

We are contemplating doing a ghost tour in Gettysburg next weekend. I told my husband about it and he wasn't as enthusiastic about it as me.

Btw, I tagged you for a meme on my blog. I just started reading yours and I thought it would be a fun way to get to know you better. Hope you play along.

OHHHH--I drove up to the entrance of that house ONCE!! I could not go any further. I listened to my uneasy feelings telling me to get the HELL out of there. I just couldn't do it. I've been to Oak Alley and Nottoway but couldn't force myself to go up that driveway to the Myrtles. ::shudder::

Oh--by the way---Love your new blog design. I started doing them part time--they are on my design website: kpwdesignsbytonya.blogspot.com

I want that porch and those chairs too!!!

I'm not sure I would do well with the haunting thing either... I'll stick with the Haunted Mansion at Disney.

I agree with you...I would never sleep in that house! Visiting in the daylight is about all I could handle...

Wow! you definitely sold me on wanting to go there. But I totally want to spend the night. How cool.

Heard of the Winchester Mansion in Northern California? Supposed to be very haunted. Google it and check it out. Crazy stuff.

Have a great day!

Spooky! I think it would be cool to tour a haunted house. But I am with you that I would not want to sleep there :-)

In your profile, you mention that you like romance books. Have you read "Date with the Other side" by Erin McCarthy? Your post reminds me of it - and it's a pretty funny (and hot) book.

Jay and I are avid watchers of The Haunting .. it's kind of a ritual while the kids are napping.

To actually visit somewhere freaky though, eeeek, I'd freak out.

We did not bring any kids with us, I was freaked out enough, I sure didn't want to scare them.

This home is located in St. Francisville, LA...sorry, I forgot to mention that!

Pretty house, but places like that creep me out! I don't think I would have even taken the tour.

Pretty house! I too like to watch scary things on TV/movies. I love the show Ghost Hunters.

My mom's house (built in 1890) is haunted. We've had a lot of experiences there, including a lamp turning on that wasn't plugged in. It never bothered me when I was growing up, but now I have a hard time falling asleep when I visit. I'm getting wussier as I get older!!

we just watched that Haunted Places show tonight. The kids were loving it. I'm intruiged because I do believe in ghost and spirits and such, I just don't think I want to hang out with them.

What a beautiful place. I don't know if I'd like it very much at night, but beautiful during the day.

Found you on SITS. You've got a great little blog.
