Cooking 101

Do you stress over what's for dinner?

I do. Every. Single. Day.

If there is something quick and simple somewhere in the house, then some nights we don't have a cooked meal. Much to my children's dismay, that is.

I like to cook (sometimes) and other times not so much. However, I don't like to be on a time limit. For example, when the girls and I get home at 5:00, they want to eat RIGHT NOW!! So, if I start cooking then, when it's done, those tummies are most times full and then they don't eat a good meal.

As for me, well I can eat just about any time of day. Or night. But that is a different post in itself.

Lately I use my slow cooker. A lot! I throw something in it, along with some seasoning and it's good to go. Like right now, there is a good ol' meatball stew brewing up a storm in there. When I get home, I just cook some rice, corn, noodles and presto, dinner is cooked.

Some days though I really really don't know WHAT to cook. It's like something in life that I should not be stressing over.

What do you cook most frequently? Do you like to cook? What do you eat when you DON"T cook?

I do like to cook, but we don't have kids yet so I have lots of time to plan and prepare meals.

Our two favorite standbys are tacos and breakfast for dinner. Both are fast and easy.

I can relate! LOL...I start thinking about dinner at about 3pm...

Honestly, I don't really enjoy cooking.

I love to cook, though I don't always have the time needed for the meals I planned for. I do a weekly meal plan and that helps me to stay on task for providing meals for my kids and hubby. Though every once in a while I do add a "eat out" dinner.

I go through phases with cooking. Sometimes I really love it and other times it is the biggest pain to me. My typical meals are pasta, tacos/fajitas, baked fish or chicken. When I don't feel like cooking we do breakfast for dinner (although it is still cooking since I'm making pancakes, eggs and sausage) or soup and sandwich. So boring, I know!

i am hooked on the kraft foods magazine. they have easy, inexpensive meals that zack and i love. you can get the quarterly magazine for free, or just go look online. i've had evenings where i didn't know what i was going to make, knew i had some chicken, and typed in a search for chicken dishes, and found a recipe within five minutes with ingredients i alredy had in teh house!

I hate cooking. Hate it. When I was little we had lots of casseroles. My kids won't eat food that's all mixed together. When hubby is home, I make bigger, more traditional meals. Just me and the kids? then kid friendly mac & chesse, chicken strips, etc. I'm all for easy to make recipes.

I love cooking but it is a chore sometimes when I'm really tired. On those nights I do something simple - like quesadillas with chips and salsa or grilled cheeses with soup. I'd love to hear your slow cooker recipes. I need to buy a cookbook specifically for that.

I love to cook but sometimes (like today), I don't like to think. So, I am going to be writing soon about managing the grocery bill and menu planning.

i usually stress.. but have found that if i do a "Menu" for the week and shop on sunday for it all i am able to stick to the plan... eat healthier and spend alot less money.

It feels like all meals get recycled toooo many times to count, eh? At least that's how I feel. I think about trying new recipes, but recipes require time and preparation, and when I don't walk in the door until 5:30 or later each night...it's tough. I'm with Miss Anne...I make out a five meal week plan, and get all the necessaries for them, and then I get enough for breakast and lunch if anyone needs them. That way I don't buy six packages of oreos like I really want to.
