So we arrived in Destin on Saturday evening and after lots of oohing and aahing over our room and the view, we headed out to the beach for some more oohing and aahing. Later we got settled in our room and looked forward to the week ahead:
SUNDAY: We pretty much kicked it at the hotel most of this day. The girls would have lived in that pool every single day if I had let them. Even more so than the beach, which was my favorite spot.
Monday : This was my first day of the conference, so I set out with the clerk of our court to the hotel in which it was held. We had breakfast there and it was really nice. Boring, but nice. I think we were done that first day around 11am-ish. Notice I said we were done, I think the actual conference had some more to it for that day, but we scooted on out.
My Sweetie and the husband of the girl I work with went out and rented some jet ski's to play around on, while we stayed behind and played by the pool.
That evening we headed over to The Baytowne Wharf
I had heard about it and researched what they had going on there before we arrived, so we were looking forward to it. It's basically a small secluded village that has restaurants and shops and many activities nightly and very family oriented. We enjoyed ourselves there on Monday night...not so much on Tuesday evening, and I'll explain that in a little bit.
As we were heading back to our rooms that night, I received a call from my sister. My grandmother passed away that day. I was shocked and confused as to what to do. As it turns out, my dad did not want me to return home and to stay out there and finish up what I had to do for my job. I really hated to miss the funeral, as she was my last surviving grandparent, but everyone assured me it would be alright. Although we were not real close, she was the one of the sweetest persons that I ever knew and I will miss her.
For this day, we had made plans to go and visit the Gulfarium and see the dolphin, sea otter and various sea creature shows. The girls really enjoyed this outing and it was great to see something of this nature in person.

Later on Tuesday evening, we had plans to go back to The Baytowne Wharf to see the fireworks display. This night was very different than the night before. The valet parking was full, so we had to park and take a bus to the village. Once we got there, the place was packed and the girls were tired. We waited for a good hour for the fireworks and I kid you not, if they lasted five minutes that is all they lasted. Seriously, I was disappointed, but that was just about the only thing from the whole week that was not all we envisioned it to be.

WEDNESDAY: We actually did not have much of anything planned for this day because as one conference was ending, we had another one that was starting, so our day was to be filled with meetings. As it turned out, we only stayed for an hour for the one that was just beginning, which was a good thing. That reason being, I had a certain something or other that required me to remain sitting on a certain porcelain type chair and when that urge to sit on it came, it was calling right now. If you get my drift.

Chelsea would not even attempt to say the name, in fear of pronouncing it wrong, which I did once and was very embarrassed. The place had a one man band, alligator shows and videos playing on big screen plasma TVs.

We arrived back to our room rather late on this evening, so we did not get to do the beach stint that I loved. There is nothing like the sand between your toes and the fresh air blowing through your hair.
After I medicated myself and started to feel much better, we decided to head out to dinner and we went to this place:

To be continued....
