Social Studies Project

My 10 year old is working on her Social Studies project. A while back, we watched a few episodes of Little House on The Prairie and from that day on, she was intrigued by Laura Ingalls Wilder. So when it was time to choose a topic for her project, it was not hard to decide what it would be.

I have no talent. When I was in school, I could do the 'book' thing. I could research, read, write and finish a report. That was the extent, and we never were required to do projects. They were strictly voluntary so needless to say, I never did one.

The school that my daughter attends requires social studies projects in 5th and 7th grades, and a science project in 6th and 8th grade. This year she is in 5th, so here we go. I have helped somewhat with the written report and her dad is helping her with what she is going to display.

Now, when you think of Little House on The Prairie, the first thing that comes to mind, of course, is the house where they lived in Walnut Grove. Hence, the outcome of what they created this past weekend. As you watch the video, you will see a wagon. Remember the wagon they rode in, drawn by a horse? The house with real windows and a door that opens and closes. The barn that held the animals, along with a pile of firewood and the food trough for the cow. A gate for the fence surrounding the farm, that really opens and closes and an outhouse!

I wish I had talent!!

I might as well tell you that I have not one single creative bone in my body. Are you sure you still want to follow me? I'm slightly jealous.
