Just Call Me 'The Evacuator'

Hi, this is Amy coming to you live from her evacuation destination.

The wind is really bad and getting worse by the moment. I am about 100 miles east of my home, which is about 30 miles from Lake Charles, LA. If you have watched any of the Weather Channel, they've mentioned it quite often. They have been evacuated and expect some really bad weather, so I didn't hesitate to get out of dodge.

Originally, I had said I was not going anywhere this time, but once I got through the bad part (the wind, the rain and the horrifying lightning) I didn't want to be left sitting in my home with no power and two whiny, hot and bored kids.

That brings us here, safe and sound at my boyfriends house and it's pretty windy here right now but if it doesn't get any worse than this, we shall be fine.

This has been a live update, stay tuned for more later from this evacuated blogger :)

OH Amy!! So sorry you had to evacuate once again. We are getting some pretty gusty winds even up here. I'm about 1/2 way between LC and Alex on 165. Very heavy traffic of people heading north. I hope we don't lose power again but we have the generator gassed and ready to go if we do. Can you believe that there are still lots of people who didn't evac Galveston Island?? I hope and pray they are ok. They said on the weather channel that the water was going up the steps on the lake toward the civic center in LC. I hope they don't get to much flooding there, my daughter loves it there and wants to get back to school--she has an internship this semester. UGH--maybe it won't be too bad.

I'm glad you left. It's been scary here and i'm nowhere near the storm.

Oh no not again! This has been such a rough hurricane season for all of you there. I've been listening to CNN feed online this afternoon about Ike...I'm thinking of you and everyone in the storm's path!

Not again! I'm thinking of you guys. Take care!

You need frequent evacuator miles. They can be exchanged for shoes and spa treatments.

Keep safe. We'll be thinking about you.

Sounds like round 2. I don't know how you guys do it down there. Stay safe!

I'm glad you're someplace safe, I just wish you didn't have to evacuate at all... I hope when you go home you find everything where you left it.

Oh, gosh! Hope everything back home is in decent shape. The thing I've noticed from reading the news coverage of Ike is the sheer size of the storm. When will you be able to go back home? BTW, on a completely different subject, it's that time of week again--Silly Sunday Sweepstakes time. Come on over and play along!

I've been thinking about you......it's weird to think that in another place in the US the weather is so different from what we are experiencing. Glad you got out to a place with power!
