Was Her Face Red?

In honor of Catholic Schools Week, my girls school had a parent/grandparent mass and classroom visitation. My dad met me there and we sat together for the mass. When it was over, we made our way to Chelsea's 6th grade class. Not many other parents or grandparents were in her class.

When we walked in, my almost 12 year old daughter sat there with this little smirky, smiley face. Similar to this:

I was like, "What is wrong?" Needless to say, we did not hang around long. I think my child was embarrassed that her mom and her grandfather were there in her class room. So it begins. The wonderful pre-teen years.

At least my 3rd grader was thrilled to see us both and welcomed us with big smiles and hugs. I better hang on to that as long as it will last.

My five year old nephew refuses to let my sister kiss him goodbye at school anymore! I hope Ned never gets like that but I guess they all do.

I had to drop Gert off at school yesterday and come in with her because it was her day to bring snacks. As I was leaving i kissed her a bunch (she's in Kindergarten) and she got all "ew mom" and wiped them off. So I said "Well, now I just have to reapply"... and I kissed her all over again... :) :)

Oh, I know how to stop that !!! I just tell H he BETTER give me a kiss before he gets out of the car and heads off for a day of filling his melon with knowledge, or I WILL RUN THROUGH THE HALLS WITH BRIGHT RED LIPSTICK SCREAMING HIS NAME !!!

Works everytime ~

My 6th and 3rd graders are happy to see me. My 7th graders would hide under a desk and my 10th and 12th graders would think it was cool.

Ugh. I don't want them to never want us there. We force ourselves onto the 11 year old. LOL I think it's great that you showed up.

Get used to it! Whenever we go anywhere with my 13yo she walks a couple paces behind us!

Oh, no! Well she may be a little embarrassed by it but one day she'll really appreciate that you were always there for those things. That's exactly how my parents were. Still... enjoy those moments with your 3rd grader while they last!

I'm sure she secretly enjoyed having you come (and care enough to come).

I still can't imagine that my son will grow up to be a teenager some day. I can't even imagine him using the toilet by himself.

They grow up too quickly.
