Happy Birthday Chelsea!!

February 28, 1997
Chelsea Paige is born
7lbs. 11 oz
4:38 pm
After 12 hours of labor I gave birth to my first child. A girl. The baby that I had longed for was finally here.
You grew and grew. So fast. You were a very happy baby and I thanked God for that.

I always thought that you were the most beautiful child that I had ever seen. I took tons of pictures of you. By this time you loved The Teletubbies (especially Po) Elmo and Blues Clues.

You were, without a doubt, Daddy's Girl from the get go. From being his sidekick, watching TV or 'helping' him work on his truck, you two were inseparable!

Three years and 17 days after you were born, you became a BIG sister. At your first introduction to your little sister (whom you wanted to name "Little Turtle") it was so funny how you were unsure about this little baby who had come to share the spotlight.

The day you started school (Pre-K) I cried. You were so happy and excited to go, and I could not hold back the tears. My baby was growing up so fast. Right before my eyes!

A little shy at times and very reserved and soft-hearted, you continued to grow and become the beautiful young lady that we always knew you would be.

We have our 'moments' just as all mother/daughter duos seem to have, but we love each other with all that we have.

Twelve years have gone by so quickly and I know that one day I will turn around and you will be a grown woman. I hope that you will always cherish your childhood memories that we have made together.

Happy 12th Birthday Chelsea!
I love you!

Purse Meme

I was tagged by Bar-b to do this purse meme. Take a picture of your purse and then pull out all of the junk, I mean stuff, from your purse and show it all. So here goes!

So this is my purse. And yes, it should be closed all the way and snapped close, but as you can see it is over-stuffed as most of my purses usually are. It seems the bigger they are the more crap I put into them.

Anyway, this is a JCPenney find that I purchased a few months ago. It was regular priced 60 bucks, but I got it for $30. Yay, me!

Now this is the mess that is inside. From top left you can see I have an assortment of lipsticks/lip gloss and chapstick. Below that is a very crumpled up pack of Kleenex, and a pack of Avon Blot Away oil absorbing sheets. My face is oily. Very. Moving along... Top right I have a stack of old receipts, my cell phone and a pack of gum. Below my phone is a compact. In the middle there is anti-bacterial gel and hand lotion. To the right of that is a 2-year planner.

Bottom row left is my checkbook that has school pics of my kids in it and to the right of that is my wallet. Obviously. Not so obvious is how empty it is. Empty of cash, that is.

So this is my purse and its contents......now I have to tag a few fellow bloggers. As usual, I don't really feel like it, so if you want to do the meme, consider yourself tagged and go for it!

The Sky Is The Limit

I recently took some photos of the sky. I find that clouds, sunshine and sky photos are always very beautiful.

This one was actually taken as we drove down to highway.
*No, I was not at the wheel!*

This one was also taken from my vehicle.
*If you look closely at the bottom right, you can see my camera strap in the reflection*

I took this one from my driveway.
*Darn power lines*

This is the view over the roof of my house.

The view (west) from my driveway.

No Work Today...

Happy Mardi Gras!
That would be Fat Tuesday to all of you Non-Louisianians.
Honestly, I am not really a Mardi Gras person, although I was born and raised here.
This day also marks the beginning of Lent, for all of you Non-Catholics.
I won't be out celebrating this Louisiana holiday but I sure will be relishing my day off from work!

Stupid Boy

Musical Monday
It is that time again. Musical Monday!
What is moving me this week?
I've been in somewhat of a somber mood the last couple of days, so this one is quite fitting for me right now. Some good 'ole Keith Urban.....
Ahhh, that voice just soothes. Enjoy.

Writer's Workshop-Sibling Rivalry

I am participating in MamaKat's Writer's Workshop this week.
The prompt I chose is to write about something mean I did to a sibling growing up.
Ahh, where to begin? I was always so mean to my one and only sibling, my younger sister. We were actually very mean to one another, so it went both ways.
It all started as soon as my parents brought this very unwanted child into the home where I was the object of all attention. How dare they make me give up that role to this child they claimed to be related to me? So really it was all their fault!
From taking away her toys to driving up to her on my tricycle as she sat in her baby swing and letting her put her toes into the spokes of the wheels and proceed to back up, the list goes on forever.
One particular incident stands out. We talk about this one still today and laugh. Now it is funny. Then, not so much.
As was all of our fighting, this one turned violent and sounds like something straight out of a movie. Somehow, my darling younger sister pissed me off. Not hard to do in those days, but I relented by spitting into her mouth. Sick, huh? Well, she asked for it, she opened her mouth to scream and I let loose.
Her retaliation? She proceeded to stab me in the head with a knife!! That is right, a knife. Stabbed. Blood. Drama. Now, the knife was not of the butcher kind but more in the range of a small steak knife. That baby still sliced my head right open and well, my mom was none too happy with either of us, I can tell you that.
I have no idea how old we were when this actually occurred, but I do know we were most probably both in the younger portion of elementary school.
Maybe that is why I love all of the blood and gore of horror movies. I lived it. Thanks sis!

Will It Actually Go My Way This Year?

Could it be that this year my picks on American Idol will go far? Usually by the time we get down to the final two, who are by far not who I chose from the get-go, the one that I begrudgingly decide to vote for, loses.

This year may be different. Because the first three of the final top 12 that were chosen tonight, are actually the three that I chose. Woohoo!

First up, we have Alexis Grace. She was awesome in her performance. I liked everything about her. The judges compared her to Kelly Clarkson. Way to go!

Next up we have the oilfield worker, Michael Sarver. He was good, but not great. However, he is one of my favorites from the beginning. Not to mention that he looks just like my OB/GYN. Ahem.

Then we have a Robert Downey Jr. look-a-like. Awesome awesome singer! He is there in memory of his wife who died, and I thought his story was very touching. I hope he goes far.

It will be great to see how this season ends because it has already started out on a good note.
Who are you voting for?

Lets Get It On

I was inspired this morning to post this. Thanks Lula!
This song was my ringtone for Mr. Sweetie for I know over a year.
We still consider it our song, as he had it as his ringtone for me, also.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the music.
In honor of Valentines Day coming up....I give you Marvin......

Some Lessons To Be Learned.....

One of my favorite holidays is coming up.
Valentine's Day!
How could anyone forget? The advertising and store displays have been ongoing since right after Christmas.

Anyhow, my Dad was never the gift-giver.
Being from the 'old school' days of dating and such, he never was a romantic.
Well, I think I gave him a lesson and with that I told him that he "needs to learn" how to take care of his woman. He laughed at me. I do think however, that he listened.

How hard is it to walk into any given department store and pick up a box of chocolates and a card?

I, for one, am a fanatic about V-day!

I have been scoping out the goodies for sometime now.

So what about you?
Do you like Valentines Day?
Do you do something special or just bypass the day as any other?
How important is it to YOU??

Friday Random-ness

The new heater is working wonderfully.

No fires, sparks, smoke allowed in our home. Ever. Again!

Mr. Sweetie is home!! Thank God.

I ate too much for lunch. I am very uncomfortable right now. Why is that? All I had was a burger.

My girls are with their dad until tomorrow. Date night tonight for me and Mr. Sweetie. Yay!

Dinner and a movie.... good times.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

FIRE!!!!!!!

There is absolutely no fear in the world that can compare to being awakened by your screaming child that the house is on fire!

At about 5:30am this morning, Alyssa (who had been asleep on the couch) was yelling for help. Our heater (the same one that gave me problems just barely a week ago) had shorted out in the plug-in section and was throwing smoke and flames everywhere.

I jumped from my bed and ran into the living room, not knowing what to do . Shocked, half asleep, scared, confused. I ran to the kitchen and then back again and without thinking, just grabbed the cord out of the socket and pulled it out of the wall. The flames went away.

I called Mr. Sweetie, who is in Kentucky, but when you don't know what to do you call those who mean the most. I then called my Dad who came right away and made sure the breaker was turned off. I then called the fire department to come and make absolutely sure there was no more fire. There was not and it was obviously just from the cord itself.

My brother in law is installing a brand new unit. I will not, can not, take any chances with this happening again.

I am shaken, scared, still in shock and so very thankful to God and whatever angel in Heaven woke my baby and alerted me. Thank you Lord.

My Girls Got Their First Cars....already.

Remote controlled.
Christmas gifts.
Pretty cool!

Tuesday Tidbits!

I do not even know where to begin for a post, thus the title for this one......

Mr. Sweetie made it safely to Kentucky. He is working his butt off every day since he arrived. They are staying in a high school gym that has no electricity, running on generators and sleeping in blow up mattress sleeping bag thingies. (I'd never make it!)
He has called me numerous times and he is very homesick. I hope they get the job done soon, so he can come home before too long. I MISS HIM!

As of Sunday, my grandmother was doing a little better and had perked up from the day before. She actually was taken down to eat in the cafeteria and had done well. She lives in a nursing home. My dad did say that she just sits around with her eyes closed. Not a good sign.

One of the things that we learned when my mom was still with us, after we looked into hospice care, was that one of the signs of the sick or elderly preparing to leave us, was that they sit with their eyes closed frequently. It is actually their way of separating themselves from every day life and people and the beginning of the end. Sad, but when my mom was nearing the end and I read that, I could not believe how much what they described was just exactly what she was doing/saying/acting out.

And that is all that I have. I am in basically a blog-rut. Not much excitement, lots of everyday craziness and busy-ness.

Until next time......
