Follower Shmollower

There is one thing that I am not always so cool with and that thing is change.

Seriously.

I don't really like things to change once I become accustomed to them the way they are.

That goes for blogger and my blogworld, bloggy friends, etc.

I noticed a while back that some of you have 'followers' on your blog, and I like the way the little boxes appear on your page and we can see everyone's pics. So, being the copycat that I am, I decided to try it.

I didn't like it. Why, you ask? Because it screws with my reader and we can't be having that.

Nope.

So, I took it off.

End of story.

The Desperate Ones

Didja watch, huh? Huh? Didja??

The show was great, and it never ceases to amaze me what they will come up with next. As far as story lines. I love them. This is my favorite show, right up there with Grey's Anatomy.
Some thoughts on what I saw.....
Evie: She can go back where she came from, I don't like her, never have. But alas, every show must have one that we love to hate, right?
Susan: Poor Susan. Poor, poor Susan! She is the most desperate of the housewives. I see myself in her. Alot. The dingy, shoulda-been-a-blonde type personality.
Bree: I like Bree. I want to be 'perfect' like her when I grow up.
Lynette: She is just about the most stressed mom I've ever seen in my life. I love to hear her argue her points and make her case. I am always on her side.
Gabrielle: I love Gabrielle. Even if she has become the 'typical' haggard housewife. And she has kids now, so she can be compared with everyone else on the same level. I think she will come around (eventually) as a parent.
I can't wait for next week!

The Day After...

I am still swooning over McDreamy from last night. The show started out bringing tears to my eyes. That is what captivates me about a show. If it makes me laugh and cry, then I am hooked.

But, who couldn't resist looking at this:

Not to mention the fact that he looks into Meredith's eyes with nothing but total love and adoration, and I fall more in love with him every time. *sigh*

Needless to say, I loved the season premiere, this season will be a great one, as usual :-)

Ok, enough about my dreamy man. Let me get on to some other things of late.

I one TWO contests! Not one, but TWO!!

Amy at WriteOneTwo had a giveaway and I won a copy of her hometown newspaper that has a blurb in it of my fave rockstar. Something nice for me to add to my collection.

Caroline at The Zen In You had a giveaway for one of her lovely pictures, and I just had to have it. Now it will be all mine, and I can't wait to get it.

Thanks ladies, for making my Friday fun!

I just may need to go buy a lottery ticket *snicker*

Tonight Is The Night!

That is correct. The night when I will be home. Bathed. Fed. In my bed. Ready.

For this:

My show. THE show. My all-time favorite. Season premiere time. I will be ready.

I know those minds were in the gutter from the get-go...shame on you !

I Shall Defend....

This:

Why, you ask? Because IT DOES NOT MATTER TO ME!!

I love Clay Aiken. From his American Idol days until now, I have found him to be nothing short of genuine, mature, real......not to mention a superb singer!! (He should have won!)

However, for the life of me, I just can not understand why there is/was all of the media speculation over his sexual orientation. I do not care, and why should anyone? It is his private life, his personal business and nothing more.

For certain, it does not change, nor will it ever change the fact that he is a guy with an awesome voice and a very charming personality. He has been judged time and time again and it is really a shame.

I know of several gay people (mostly men) and they are real people, with thoughts, and feelings and rights, just like everyone else. I would not expect one of them to question me about my personal life and then judge me or degrade me for who I am.

I could go on and on about this, but I think I will end this by saying, no matter what the media tries to do, how the fans/non-fans react, it will not change the facts. Clay is awesome!

Here are a couple videos:

An awesome song and performance:

My Girls

I have mentioned my two daughters on my blog only in little comments here and there. I have never formally introduced them to the blog world. That will change today.

For many many weeks, I have contemplated how and when I would blog about them....whether or not to use their real names or fake names....if I'd put up their pics or not.

My decision is that I will use their real names. Many of the several blogs I read have their child's names and pictures on them and so that is what I am going to do. Some have nicknames, use an alias, or the first letter of each child. To each his own. All is good.

So now without, further ado, I give you my two girls:

This is my oldest daughter, Chelsea. She is 11 years old and in the 6th grade. She loves The Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and Spongebob. Chelsea hates school and doesn't like to do homework, but she's making it in Jr. High. From day one, she has always been a very soft-hearted, fragile spirit who craves to be friends with everyone she meets. Talking on the phone, listening to music, and spending time outside or with friends are also things that she enjoys.

This is my baby girl, Alyssa. She is 8 years old and in the 3rd grade. She also loves The Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and Spongebob. Alyssa loves school and doing homework (completely opposite of her big sister) She has a short temper and is very aggressive and passionate about everything and anything that she believes in. Sometimes she will show you her softer side, but refuses to admit that her heart is broken. She's a real tough spirit! She loves to dress up, play school or office, and play outside.

For the most part, my girls enjoy most of the same things in life, however they are very different in personality. I love that about them. I love them with all of my heart and then some. They are my rock and what keep me going. They have been the reason I have made it through some of the toughest parts of my life. Everything I do, I do for them!

I Just Don't Get IT!

This Analytical crap.

How do I find my way around? I have searched and clicked and read and tried to figure it out, and I can not find how or where to see what search brought readers to my site.

Anyone? Anyone?

Oh and if you could not tell by now, I have nothing to blog about. I am drawing a blank. My brain is too tired to even try and think of something to say. That's all folks!

Give Me Your Opinion

This may or may not become a recurring post. Depending on how this goes. So here it is:

I choose something, anything to discuss or whatever I may want your input or point of view on, and you comment and let me know. Easy? Easy.

For my first post of "Give Me Your Opinion", I give you this:

How do you feel about this place?

Would you eat here?

Would you be pissed if your man went here without you or wanted to go with you?

Would you approve of your daughter working here one day?

Do you approve of this being a 'family' restaurant?

Lay it on me, tell me what you think. I go first (in the comment section)

Pathetic is the Word

I have never been what you would call 'fat'. As a baby, yes, but as I got older, no. In fact, I was incessantly teased for being 'skinny' in grade school.

It's all in my stomach. I try not to eat too much junk food, I really try. Hard. But it calls out to me. Daily.

I joke with my youngest daughter and tell her that she forgot some of her baby fat in my belly when she moved out. She's 8. It should be gone by now.

My height has always been a factor to my weight. The reason being, I am tall. So that is my excuse for weighing 160 pounds. 5'10" tall and 160 pounds. Not bad. But my stomach bugs me.

Years ago, I worked out at the gym and that darn stomach would not go away. I couldn't even get 5 pounds off. Then my husband left me and I lost 15 pounds within a couple of weeks. Go figure! I felt great weight-wise. My flabby little tummy was gone and it felt wonderful. I weighed in at a mere 145.

Then I met Mr. Sweetie.

Mr. Sweetie likes to eat. He likes to take me out to eat. Not at crappy little food places, he likes to eat good food. Olive Garden. Outback Steakhouse. Mexican. Chinese. He likes it all. But so do I. Too much.

So now I am back to my 'old'-when-I-was-married weight. I am the only one with the issue. Nobody else notices it or really cares about my little pooch. I wish it would go away though.

And I sit here eating a Nutty Bar. *sigh*

Introducing, My Man....

He shall be called *drum roll*..........

Mr. Sweetie! And I will tell you why in a minute, but first.....

As I've mentioned before, my marriage ended, leaving me devastated. I just knew that I was going to be alone for the rest of my life and nobody would ever love me. I was wrong!

A few short months after my ex-husband left and I realized just how unhappy I actually was with him, I decided that it was time to move on. Why not? He had....and before he had officially moved out, so I was ready to enter the dating scene again. Talk about scary! I had been with someone for over 15 years and things were just not the way they were back in my single days.

Not knowing where to begin, I hit the internet. I joined a singles online dating match up sort of thing, and I found a guy. We talked by IM for quite some time, had extensive phone conversations and planned to meet. One day. I was chicken. Not only was I still officially married, but the thought of actually meeting someone in person and going on a date scared the dog doo doo out of me. Well, that ended before it began. Turns out he was a jerk in disguise, but I had fun while it lasted. Moving on.

I decided to look for some guys on Myspace. Why not? I had joined Myspace while I was still married, and only used it as an avenue to stay in touch with friends from afar and that was all. I figured I may as well use it for some potential dating prospects. So the searching began.

I found a few potential 'datable' men and friend requested them. I had one that contacted me right away, asked to meet me and I was off on my first date in over a decade! To make a long story short, we went on a couple more dates after that, but he had too much baggage/drama in his life for me, so that was the end of that.

Meanwhile, Mr Sweetie was just hanging around as a friend and not saying much, unless I would comment him or message him first. He always answered me back, though. Being bold like I am at times, I asked him if he'd like to IM and of course he said he'd love to. I mean, who couldn't resist little 'ole me, right? Ha!

Needless to say, we chatted quite a bit, he asked to take me out to eat that same weekend and we had our first date. Dinner and a movie. When I say that he talked my head off at dinner, I am not exaggerating. I could not get a word in edge-wise. I think I learned every single thing about him in that one date. Thankfully we had the movie where he was finally quiet. He later informed me that he was so nervous he couldn't stop talking, even though he knew he needed to shut up. I still find that quite flattering.

That was over a year ago. April of last year to be exact. We are still together and I love him like nobody I have ever loved before. He loves me and I know it because I feel it from him. Every. Single. Day.

So I am calling him Mr. Sweetie. The reason being: He is sweet. He calls me sweetie. He loves me. He shows me that he loves me. He calls every single day, all day long, just to say he loves me, and that he's thinking of me. He never gets mad, no matter how sarcastic or ridiculous I am at times. He is affectionate and we have a chemistry that I never have had with anyone else. My heart feels a warmth that it has never felt before, with just a thought of something he said to me or did for me.

Granted, he is not perfect, buy nobody is. Especially not me. I still have issues that I deal with on a daily basis. No thanks to the ex, but I am working on them. Mr. Sweetie frequently mentions marriage and I ever so slightly change the subject. I am not quite ready for that again, but one day I would like to be a wife again. In due time.

I love my Mr. Sweetie, and I am proud to say he loves me too!

This is us, taken this past spring.

I Have a Man, Thanks!

Yesterday my Dad calls me and thinks he's going to be funny. He says "I found you a boyfriend." My reply: "I have one already, you know that." To which he says, "I'll tell you about him when you get here." ( I was going to have lunch with him)

So I get to my Dads and he tells me that this guy who works at the car dealership located next door to where I now work, saw me walking from my van to the building and told my Dad that he thought I was 'hot'. Thanks for the compliment, dude, but no thanks.

Then my Dad says "He told me he wants to be my son-in-law, he only weighs about 300 pounds and doesn't have one hair on his head." Well, hell that figures, I do attract some real doozies! This is all I could picture in my head:

My reply : "Sorry, we don't always get what we want, now do we, I am taken, not officially, but taken nonetheless!" Then my Dad proceeds to laugh. I don't find it amusing that a man who I not only have never seen in my life and wouldn't know from 'Adam' is drooling over me, but he knows who I am. Scary people, scary!

I do have a man. A very sweet, loving one and I plan to 'introduce' him here on my blog soon. I am still thinking up a good 'nickname' for him though. Any suggestions?

Analytics, wha??

A couple of the blogs I read mentioned the new Analytics thingamajiggy on google. Apparently it shows you what words or phrases led those google-holics to your website.

Well, I 'added' it to my page and now I guess it's just a wait and see game as to what I come up with. I suppose I did it right, because I didn't get an error. We shall see.

My friend Dawn gave me this award:

Thank you so much, Dawn! Well, now you know I have to pass it along, so lets see who the lucky winners are today, oh and there are some rules and a meaning to this award also, let me go back and grab those.

To translate the gift from Portuguese to English, it means:"This blog invests and believes, the proximity"[meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' -being close through proxy]

I am now instructed to pass it along to a few blog buddies and they are:

Briana

Can't Hardly Wait

Even The Nice Ones

Madness of Me

My Life With My Love

Seven Clown Circus

Welcome To A Day In Rhonda's Life

Write One Two

So these are some of the newer bloggers that I read, with the exception of a couple of them, but they all are cool, so check them out and happy reading.

All Is Well That Ends Well

This is my last post about a hurricane. Any one of them. Past or Future. I don't even want to hear the word 'hurricane' or 'storm' again anytime soon. I am finished for the season.

I am home, safe and sound. No damage, no problems. Thank goodness!

Can I just get on with my life and be back to normal, please?

My boyfriend, who practically lives with me all week, has left for Texas since early this morning to help with the clean up and power restoration over there. He works for a tree trimming company that gets contracted out by the power companies to work along side them to get things back on track after major storms. When there aren't storms, they do regular everyday work with the utility companies locally.

Needless to say, I will be missing him for the week or so while he's gone. On the upside, I'll have more time to blog, but I will be a little lonely. Damn hurricanes, even messing with my love life!

Just Call Me 'The Evacuator'

Hi, this is Amy coming to you live from her evacuation destination.

The wind is really bad and getting worse by the moment. I am about 100 miles east of my home, which is about 30 miles from Lake Charles, LA. If you have watched any of the Weather Channel, they've mentioned it quite often. They have been evacuated and expect some really bad weather, so I didn't hesitate to get out of dodge.

Originally, I had said I was not going anywhere this time, but once I got through the bad part (the wind, the rain and the horrifying lightning) I didn't want to be left sitting in my home with no power and two whiny, hot and bored kids.

That brings us here, safe and sound at my boyfriends house and it's pretty windy here right now but if it doesn't get any worse than this, we shall be fine.

This has been a live update, stay tuned for more later from this evacuated blogger :)

My New Job

I love my new job.

My official title is Deputy Clerk for the City Court in charge of traffic tickets. Basically, I enter all of the citations that the city police officers give out, into the computer and make a folder on each person. I then collect the fine and court costs on these tickets, or set a court date for them to attend if they choose (or can't pay).

I sit at a desk all day, behind a computer. My dream come true. That part is awesome. I work with 3 other women, and they are all funny, crazy and very sweet. Another plus. My hours are Monday thru Friday from 8-5 and we have LOTS of holidays off!

My first day, instead of jumping into what my duties were, they pointed out all of the computer games that I can play when I don't have much work. So far, I haven't had any really hectic days, so I do get to squeeze in a little playtime. That, coupled with the fact that I have internet there, is another dream come true.

So I guess you can say 'so far, so good'.

As for the storm (Ike).... we are waiting on word about whether or not we will be closed tomorrow. All of the schools in our parish will be closed tomorrow and other civil offices have been ordered to close also.

The weather here is not predicted to be too bad, just wind gusts and some rain, so hopefully we will come through this one OK too.

I have missed blogging and I am trying to get myself situated with more time to do it. This whole week has just been one hectic thing after another. Hopefully I will be back on track by next week!!

You REALLY Don't Know What You've Got 'Til It's Gone!

As I stated in my last post, I am back and we fared well with Hurricane Gustav. Thank God!

I would again like to thank everyone who left comments, emailed, prayed, thought of us, or sent well wishes. I truly and deeply appreciate that.

The reason I have not blogged in so many days is because my home internet had been out. Misery is the only word I can use to describe the feelings I had all weekend with no access to the blogosphere. But baby, I am BACK UP! I am so thrilled and was really looking forward to getting everything back to normal. I say 'was', because it looks like their is another storm headed this way. HOWEVER, I am not worrying about that right now and I don't want to focus on that at this time.

What I DO want to focus on is telling you all that I WILL be back to commenting and reading very soon. You would not believe how far behind I am on reading. I had over 300 posts in my reader today. I had to delete quite a few without even reading. However, if I usually comment on your blog, I have not gotten around to visiting you yet. I saved all of those until a later time, and plan on reading and commenting very soon.

I am really liking my new job, and I plan to blog about it soon, when I get some good computer time..... :)

I'm Back....

I am perfectly fine! I am home safely, with power and everything here is great. No damage and everything is back to normal. Except for one thing...I have no Internet at home!!! So, I am at my new job (second day now) and using the computer here. I love my new job so far and everything is great.

Thanks so much to everyone who left messages and comments, emailed and for the thoughts and prayers. I appreciate that so much.

Hopefully I will have Internet this weekend so that I can get caught up reading and commenting again. I've missed it!!
