Writer's Workshop

The writing prompt I chose from MamaKat this week is:

Who really helped you get over something? Write about that person.

I have known my best friend, Heather, since we were in grade school. I will never forget the slumber party she had in the 6th grade. Most of the girls in all of the sixth grade were there and it was probably the best slumber party I ever attended.

We stayed up until around 5 am and we watched Motel Hell, had a beauty pageant, ate tons of food and played Light As a Feather. Fun times, I tell ya. We still talk about that slumber party to this day!

Throughout junior high and into high school we really were not that close. We did remain friends but we hung out in different groups. As soon as we graduated high school however, we became inseparable. Our fun times turned to double dating, going out together and having the adventure of our lives. All we wanted though, was to get married and have kids and 'guys' became the main focal point of our existence. (Silly us!)

We joke now about how we should have moved away to a larger city had successful careers and stayed away from the boys! Needless to say, that did not happen.

Over the next few years we both went through a few relationships, broken hearts, love and eventually marriage and the births of our children. Through thick and thin, no matter what, we have always been there for each other.

Heather divorced a couple of years before I did and was my rock when I went through mine. Without her friendship during that particular time, I do not know where I would be today. She laughed and cried with me, stayed up late on the phone with me and basically, carried me through.
She listened to my grief, laughed at my exaggerated stories and still continues to do so until this very day.

There is nothing I can ever do to repay Heather for the many times she has saved me, other than to continually be there for her through thick and thin. That is what friends are for, right?

Random Tuesday Thoughts

I took the day off work to go on a field trip with my daughter's 3rd grade class today. We went to a local tourist place that showcases homes that are basically models of what houses were like many years ago. It was interesting for the adults, but my child of course, said it was boring.

Not sure what the dead bird signifies, if anything at all, but I found one covered with ants in my yard. I hope it's not something really horrible, but at least I didn't kill this one.

My wonderful daughter tried to tell me that her old dance teacher was at school for their pep rally doing cheers. She proceeded to tell me that there were a bunch of old ladies about your age doing cheers too! Thanks daughter, you just scored points with me for that one!

I have a trip to Florida planned for June. Actually it's for work, but I am bringing my kids and my sweetie along. I started tanning today so I don't blind everyone on the beach.

We just finished watching American Idol. My 9 year old daughters comment on Adam. "He's so hot, don't touch him or you will burn yourself." Should I put bars on the windows now?

Musical Monday: Best Song From a Movie

Ever since I was a small girl, I have loved the movie "Grease". The love story....oh how I wanted to be Sandy and have a Danny. The music.....all of it so happy and care-free.

Even now when we find it playing on TV, my girls and I will watch it and I still get that same happy feeling inside.

So for this weeks theme for Musical Monday, Best Song From a Movie, I chose a "Grease" song. You're The One That I Want. Enjoy!

Vehicular Homicide At It's Best

I do not know what I was thinking.

I saw her in the road. Just sitting there. Helpless. Hopeless.

I thought she would move. Jump out of the way. Run. Fly. Something!

But nothing. She just sat there and looked at me with those sad eyes. Fear screaming out, but I could not hear.

I did not swerve or hit the brakes. I did not even slow down. Nothing.

I ran her over. Flat as a pancake. Her mother tried to help her, but it was too late. She was gone.

Off to birdy heaven.......

Please do not tell the authorities of my whereabouts! I think that little birdy was suicidal anyway. She wanted me to hit her. Yeah, that's it. I am innocent by reason of her insanity!

I'd like to thank Amy @ Keeping Up With The Schultz Family for this awesome award. She was such a sweetheart to pass it along. As you know, there are tons of rules and regulations, stipulations and whatnot that go along with these things, but as usual, I am breaking them all. I forward this along to each and every one of you who visit me regularly. You all rock.

This award came from Anissa @ Learning Together Hand in Hand. Go over and visit her, she has some cute blog designs and some sweet-faced kiddos. Thanks Anissa!

Qualified...Whoo!

One of our local radio stations (about 40 minutes from me) is having a contest to give away a trip to the season finale of American Idol. A question about the show from that previous Tuesday or Wednesday is presented and the 10th caller, if your answer is correct, has their name put in the pool to win the trip!

I freakin' qualified!!!!
The question of the hour (for me) was "Who choreographed this week's show?" And of course, it was Paula Abdul. I had just gotten off work and picked up my girls, when we pulled out of the school parking lot and the question came on. I grabbed my cell phone and started dialing. I had been trying all day at work and only got in as caller 6 once. So I called a few times, but only got a busy signal. Then all of a sudden it rang, and the DJ's voice came on and said "You are caller 10" I was like "Are you serious?" hahaha! I answered correctly, and qualified for the drawing to win. How cool would that be?? There will be 30 qualifiers, so that is not too bad. Plus, I get a prize pack of American Idol stuff worth $25 that I can pick up next week!
I am so psyched, now if I could just win the trip, I would be really thrilled! Cross your fingers for me, the winner will be announced on May 4.

Wordful Wednesday

Today is my niece Madison's 7th birthday. She is the only niece I have because I only have one sister and she only has one child. Because of health reasons, she will not have any more children, but Madison is a pure joy. I love her to pieces and I call her 'my squishy girl'. She got that nickname because of her little-girl pudgy-ness.

Recently, her dog Biscuit, whom she received as a pup, attempted to have some pups of her own. Because Biscuit is a small dog and obviously got preggers from a rather large dog, she had issues delivering the pups and had to be taken to the vet. Once there, she delivered several puppies that did not make it. Finally, Biscuit delivered a live puppy and Madison was so proud of her new addition to the family that she named it Lucky. Unfortunately, Lucky turned out not to be so fortunate and eventually passed away. Madison was devastated.

For Easter/Spring break, my sister and her husband took their daughter to Disneyworld and she had a blast! I truly believe that she deserved it. She is a sweetheart......

Happy Birthday Madi, my squishy girl! I love you!

Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

It's time for some random thoughts on this Tuesday. I love these sort of posts (writing them and reading other bloggers' posts about them).

Went to the doctor yesterday for a check-up and blood work results. My cholesterol is higher than it was last time I had it checked. So that means watching what I eat and exercise. I can deal with the exercise, and it's something that I had anticipated on doing more of, and soon.
The eating better part is what gets me. I love to eat and what they say is bad for me, just so happens to be most of my favorite foods.
For the sake of my health, I guess I will have to sacrifice.
Anyone interested in seeing a photo of ME, taken by ME? Go here!
I have another giveaway coming up. I was contacted about doing a review on something yummy (and probably not kosher with my new diet plan). So stay tuned for that.
I work for City Court of 'my' city and yesterday I got a call from some random woman who wanted a phone number to 'some other' city court. I politely told her that I did not have the number. She proceeded to ask me how the heck was she supposed to get it, she had looked everywhere. I wanted to be sarcastic, but I kept my cool and said, "Well you could call information." (most people do that when they want a phone number, lady). So then she was pissed and said, "Well thank you SOOO much!"
Hmmpph! Common sense, people!
That is about all for this time, for more random posts or to join in, go see the Unmom!

Musical Monday (Reminds Me of High School)

I graduated from high school in 1988. In my opinion the 80's was, and always will be, the best era of music that ever was. Hands down!

Sure, there are some classics that I adore from the 60's and 70's, but the 80's rocked!

My 12 year old gets a little testy with me when searching radio stations in the van, I stop at the oldies. She just doesn't get it, but I know that my music has just stood the test of time and it will never die!

This weeks theme for Musical Monday is "Reminds Me of High School". One of the first bands that come to mind when I think back to my high school years, is Bon Jovi. I only saw it fitting that I feature the song that takes me back. Never Say Goodbye. Crank it and Enjoy!

Broken.....

Because Blogger chooses NOT to allow me to copy and paste a draft I have of a different post then this one and continues to piss me off, I will leave you with this.

My eldest child begged me for 2 years to buy her a Nintendo DS.

That is all I heard.

She received one for Christmas.

Today she took it across the street with her to the neighbors house.

Needing a place to lay it down while she ran off, she placed it on the rear end of said neighbors truck.

Aforementioned neighbor left while my child was off skipping around the neighborhood.

Along for the ride went her Nintendo DS.

It did not return alive.

The game is broken. And so is her heart.

Eden Fantasys Review

Disclaimer: I am not a perv, weirdo, sex-aholic....just so you know. Carry on!

When I found out I could do a review for Eden Fantasy’s, I was very surprised that it would be so easy to get signed up! Little did I know that they had so much stuff to choose from. It literally took me days and days to search through all of their products and choose only one thing. Granted, I don’t have very many adult ‘toys’. One, to be exact, so deciding what to choose was a chore for me. I am usually the skeptic with a “there is nothing like the real thing” attitude.

So after days of searching and not being able to make up my mind, I came to a decision. The Pocket Rocket with I-lube. Ahem, well I wanted to start small. In all honesty, those big ‘things’ scare me somewhat. No, really they scare me a lot, if I am being truthful here, but to each his/her own.

When my package (no pun intended) arrived, I was relieved to know that it was very discreet in a regular box that all of my neighbors and mail lady would not be giving me any knowing looks. That was a relief!

I have to say, What a cute little vibrator! I got the pink one (strawberry). It also comes in grape, lime, blueberry, and tangerine, and it’s name fits it perfectly because it could actually fit in your pocket or purse, very easily and conveniently. You know, for those on the road ‘urges’. Teehee!

The I-lube is very nice! It has a soft and silky feel to it and it feels very nice on my skin. A little bit goes a long way. No scent either, which is a plus, I am not turned on by strong smells.

All in all, it is a very nice and convenient little vibrator. The only downfall I found with it is it vibrates very hard! I like more of a gentle vibe and this one really packs a mean vibration, but again, to each his own. I guess I would say that it serves its purpose and is a really nice adult toy for those of you, who like me, may not be into all those kinky big, scary looking monsters.
Be sure to go by Eden Fantasy’s site and check out the hundreds of cool things they have to offer. I guarantee you, they have something for everyone there.

Two Years!

Two years ago today, we went on our first date!
Looking back, I never thought we would make it this far.
I had given up on love and believed that it was not in the cards for me.
After going through the worst part of my life, you came into it and rescued me.
Thank you for saving me.
Thank you for making me laugh.
Thank you for giving me everything I always needed.
Thank you for all that you do for me.
Thank you for loving me, my sweetie.
I love you!

Musical Monday- No shame

Musical Monday

This weeks theme on Musical Monday is "Songs I am embarrassed to admit that I love". Honestly, I can't think of anything I am really ashamed of music-wise. I love lots of different things and my musical taste goes waaay out there, so choosing a song that I am embarrassed of was pure torture. I went through my iTunes library and I decided on this one. Lolli Lolli - Pop That Body. Yep, I love it. Makes me want to get up and well, pop that body! Woooo. My daughters actually got me hooked on it, and some may judge and say that its a bad thing to let them listen to this sort of music, but they are pre-teens, it's a given.

Crank it up and enjoy!!

Two Cents! Mine on Marriage

Over at Tutu's Bliss today the discussion/topic is infidelity. Go check out what she has to say and leave your two cents!
I am giving my two cents (or maybe a dollar's worth) on marriage. When I read her post on infidelity my senses were alerted. My blogging fingers started twitching and I knew this was what I had to do. Ahem, so let us proceed:
I was married at one time and that marriage lasted for eleven years. The relationship, fifteen. I was fairly young when I married, a mere 25 years old. Looking back now, I should never have entered into something so serious because I did not do it for the right reasons. Hindsight is 20/20 they say, but we all live and learn.
Now that I have been there done that, I can see the whole picture, the greater scheme of things, if you will. Marriage is something that should be taken very seriously, nurtured and respected, worked on and celebrated. A union of two people who love each other more then either can fathom and of which the two persons can not and do not wish to, live without the other, for eternity.
Marriage is not all about the wedding dress, the pictures, the reception and a big party. Entering into it with your eyes closed and thinking that happily ever after will just BE is a terrible fantasy that will never come to light. Personally, I see too many people these days who get married and do not take the time to really 'know' one another and focus on their future and communicate the good and the bad. They just 'exist' together and never take a look at what is before them.
For example, my Sweetie has this neighbor-friend that just married a girl who he dated for TWO WEEKS!! There is no possible way that anyone can make me believe that these two people know, love and respect each other or have come to any certain conclusion that they will spend the REST OF THEIR LIVES TOGETHER. No way! No how! I do no believe that for one solitary second!
I do not hold myself in high regard as a 'know it all' when it comes to marriage or relationships, because Lord knows I am just the average divorcee'. I just wish that more people would put half of their energy into working on their relationships, and communicating and respecting one another and this world would be a much better place to live in.
What are your two cents? I wanna know!

Tuesday Talk

randomtuesday

This is my first time participating in Random Tuesday Thoughts. Wanna be included? Visit The Un Mom

It is the week before Easter. Only 5 days to go and I have not bought the first chocolate bunny yet. Bad Momma!
My Sweetie and I had 3 days with no kids this past weekend. Bliss, purely!
We went to see 3 movies! Yes, three. Sometimes you have to make up for lost time and quickly. We saw TAKEN....great movie. THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT....good, but not quite as scary as I expected. THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT......awesome!! I was so tense throughout the entire movie, I couldn't move, but I absolutely loved it.
Softball season has started here. I think someone forgot to notify Mother Nature. Tryouts were yesterday evening and I froze in those hurricane force winds. First practice is tomorrow evening. Memo to Ms. Nature for a much more pleasant warmer atmosphere. Stat!
Work is great still, but slow and quiet as of late. I have tons of things I could be out and about doing or things at home that need to be done. Yet I sit here pondering them all.
American Idol is on tonight. On my way to work this morning, the morning talk show hosts were discussing the odds of the top finishers. Of course, Adam Lambert is the top choice as this years winner, followed by Danny Gokey and then Chris Allen and Lil Rounds. Go Adam!!
Where do some of these so-called singers on the radio today come up with these songs? Right now, the radio station we listen to at work is playing that "POKER FACE" song by Lady Gaga. Hmmm, I'd like to poke her in the face so she'd stop singing it! I am so mean!
Happy Tuesday. What is your random thought for today?

Musical Monday - Chicks That Rock!

This weeks Musical Monday has a theme to it and so will each week throughout the month of April.

So the first Monday of April holds the theme "Chicks That Rock". Now, this one is a hard one for me because I like lots of rocker chicks! I enjoy many of them from the 80's all the way up to present day. Choosing only one is no small feat, but here we go.

Vixen (after a little research on Google) are STILL together and about to release a new album, er CD, whatev. Anyway, they totally rocked then, and I am sure they still do now. These ladies are still looking hot too.

I love the song, the video and all of their leather boots and, and, and .....oh, I loved the 80's!!

Writer's Workshop: The Real Me

Don't forget to sign up for my big giveaway, found HERE!

MamaKat over at Mama's Losin' It is having her weekly workshop assignment. What she does is provide a few prompts to choose from for us who need a little blog idea 'help' occasionally.

I chose "A common misconception that people have about you."

This is confession time, I suppose. I am not what you all think I am. Or who you think I am, for that matter.

Honestly, I am not really as sweet and wonderful as my blog posts make me out to be. For real. I can and tend to be a real bitch. Sometimes. Not always, but still.

For the most part, I am a very nice person. Basically. I get along with and have lots of friends in my life. Growing up, I was more of the shy type. Now, not so much. After being in the work force for many years and interacting with many types of people, I have come to be more open and outgoing.

When certain topics that I tend to feel very strongly about (negatively or positively) are presented before me, I will stand my ground and fight to the death to prove my point and get my feelings across. Hence, the reason I put myself in the 'bitch' category. But that is the only reason why I put myself there. I think that hardcore, defiant, stubborn side of me somehow comes across as bitchy-ness to some. And that is quite alright with me. I can live with that.

The most important thing is, I can admit it!
