My New Job

I love my new job.

My official title is Deputy Clerk for the City Court in charge of traffic tickets. Basically, I enter all of the citations that the city police officers give out, into the computer and make a folder on each person. I then collect the fine and court costs on these tickets, or set a court date for them to attend if they choose (or can't pay).

I sit at a desk all day, behind a computer. My dream come true. That part is awesome. I work with 3 other women, and they are all funny, crazy and very sweet. Another plus. My hours are Monday thru Friday from 8-5 and we have LOTS of holidays off!

My first day, instead of jumping into what my duties were, they pointed out all of the computer games that I can play when I don't have much work. So far, I haven't had any really hectic days, so I do get to squeeze in a little playtime. That, coupled with the fact that I have internet there, is another dream come true.

So I guess you can say 'so far, so good'.

As for the storm (Ike).... we are waiting on word about whether or not we will be closed tomorrow. All of the schools in our parish will be closed tomorrow and other civil offices have been ordered to close also.

The weather here is not predicted to be too bad, just wind gusts and some rain, so hopefully we will come through this one OK too.

I have missed blogging and I am trying to get myself situated with more time to do it. This whole week has just been one hectic thing after another. Hopefully I will be back on track by next week!!

I almost could have had a job in the traffic ticket department, but only because I was there so much with violations. I have worked through my problem and am much better now.

Hope you continue to enjoy the job.

Love that you love your job! That is a very fun line of work...I was a police dispatcher, and loved almost every minute of it. Gotta love the po-lice!!

Sounds like a great job!! I just got back from getting Katie..again from McNeese. The schools are closed in Cal, Cam and Allen parishes so far. Stay safe--they are predicting very high storm surges with possible flooding over I-10 in places.

I'm glad you're enjoying your new job! Although internet access is far overrated. It is always there beckoning me when I have to-do lists longer than I can bare to think of. Oh, well! I don't know how I'd get through the day without it though!

Your job sounds great!!! I am so happy for you!! I hope Ike doesn't bother you there. It is awfully windy here today for nothing to be coming here.
