Always Be My Baby

When I said I wanted to have a baby, that is exactly what I signed up for. A baby. Not a pre-teen. One who is growing up faster than my nerves can handle.

At the age of 4, I sent Chelsea off to Pre-K. We registered her at a small private school that had after school daycare. So convenient. So nice.

Her first day, she walked into that classroom, said "Bye mom!" and never looked back. I cried all the way to work!

That was 8 years ago! She is 12 now. Tomorrow she starts her first day of 7th grade. Public school. New school. BIG school. New faces. Different teachers. Did I mention BIG school?

She is excited. I am a nervous wreck!

Oh and not only that, but she will be riding the bus home every day and letting herself in to an empty house. Can we say WORRY?

I want my baby back!

I am totally with you! I had a couple weeks yet but come Labor Day, my house and heart will be empty. One will be in Spain and the other in K5. They will both feel worlds away from me.

Oh they do grow fast. I use to ride the bus also and come home to an empty house. I had to always call my Mom when I got home.

Oh, I understand!!! My stepson is starting junior high/6th grade here...he's actually been letting himself into the house and staying for an hour or so for the last year++, and it's gone smoothly. You'll be just fine and so will she. :) And it's okay to cry if you wanna.

I can't even imagine that since I have a baby and a toddler. Middle school, it's a whole other ballgame, right?!

I understand it too! My 'baby' is 8 yrs old and no longer liking 'little' girl things.....she has moved on to the tween stage. Its bittersweet!!

I'm a few years away myself from letting her get off the bus and stay in an empty house by herself.

Gah......so not looking forward to that.

I know how you feel! I thought I was nervous when I sent mine to middle school.......now she's starting HS this year. I only have to register her this morning and my stomach is in knots.

I'm sure we'll all by fine, but it doesn't stop us from worrying does it? Have a great day!

Aw, snap out of it Amy! Unfortunately, she's not a little girl anymore. Believe me, I know. Mikayla is the same age and I sometimes wonder "What the hell happened to my sweet natured girl?" Man, these hormones are kicking MY ass!

Justine :o )

you'll be fine, as will she. This coming from the mom who is freaking out about registering her oldest for HS this week. Holy hell, when did she get old enough for high school?!? :-)

Girl, I can so relate! Abby is in 7th grade, too, this year and her middle school has 1,500 students! That just boggles my mind! Yesterday was her first day and she loved it! I agree, though, she's growing up much too fast to suit me!

My son started junior high three weeks ago. My son, who is ADD, who doesn't read social cues, who doesn't do well in new surroundings or settings. My son, who is and has been all of these things, is THRIVING in junior high. He was a little nervous (and I was A LOT nervous!) but things couldn't be going better so far. I guess my baby is growing up too. So far, it's working out well for him!
