I dig out some DVD's and start a-downloadin'. My gut feeling told me that once it was 'done', that my baby was history.
It took F.O.R.E.V.E.R to back it all up. When it was done, it told me to turn it off and replace the hard disk! GASP!!! What?
To make a long story short, I took her to a local computer repair shop. I really did not want to have to buy a new one, but if it was necessary, then so be it.
Good news. The guy just called. $90 to replace the hard drive, they will GIVE me a FREE new anti-virus, because my other one is crap! However, the best part is, all of my photos and music will not be lost!

I am thinking....I want to print off my pictures and resume to have hard copies. Been meaning to do this anyhow. :)
I hate that you have virtually no warning when you are about to lose everything. I am glad that you at least got a flare!
good job following your gut. I didn't get the warning and lost everything this spring. EVERYTHING. Some pix were already saved on disks but not much else. Learned a valuable lesson.
