A Little Bit of This...A Little Bit of That

I have returned to the working world! Everything went fine, and I am on the mend. Yay, me!

Summer is almost here and I am so ready to have that one less stress of school, homework, grades, etc.

My house desperately needs some spring cleaning and I. Don't. Feel. Like. Doing. It!

The day before my surgery, I went on a pretty cool field trip with my youngest...pics to come soon.

Mother's Day is approaching. Not my favorite holiday of the year.

I would love to take a vacation. Just a weekend getaway would be nice. Winning the lottery would help!

I really really really really want one of these:

...again, that whole lottery thing would help!

Anybody have an iPhone? Like it, love it, can't live without it??? Tell me!

Surgery Update

Well, the ole gallbladder is gone! I had my surgery on Thursday.

Let me tell you a few things I learned since that day:

I am not as young as I used to be!

Pain is not my friend and neither are meds for pain.

The couch is the most comfortable place to sleep. Ever.

We take the simple things for granted. Like eating. Bathing. Moving. Breathing.

Work can wait. I will not be there tomorrow like I thought I would be.

I would rather give birth than do this again!

Did I mention pain? Not just in my stomach, but in my back. Again, I have taken too much for granted!

It sucks to get old!

Tramp Stamp Anyone?

This week, Shannon wants to know:

If you were to get a tattoo right now, what would it be?

Photobucket

Well, let me just start by saying, I do not like needles. I have had, over the years, my fair share of being stuck by them and to submit myself to pain that was not necessary would be utter stupidity.

Secondly, I have two impressionable daughters. Seeing them with a tattoo later in life would probably break my heart.

That being said, if I got a tattoo, it would be located somewhere that nobody could see it when I was fully clothed! Like a tramp stamp. There I said it! What would it be? I really never gave it much thought. Maybe a peace sign or a simple design. Words maybe? I know the possibilities are endless.

What would YOU get? Or what do you have already?

An Open Letter To My Gallbladder

Oh Gallbladder of mine!

You had us all fooled, me especially!

The heartburn, the indigestion and chest pains. The constant burping and back aches.

I thought it was an ulcer. Or acid reflux. So did my doctor.

The doctor ordered a scope....that funky thing that goes down your throat and looks around inside the stomach, whom lives near you, and checks to see what is wrong. Well, he found nothing wrong, so he ordered an ultrasound. Of you!

The technician who did my ultrasound gave me a real scare, again because of you, because she was not expecting anything to be wrong with you. Not with the symptoms I was describing, anyway. Until she placed that wand over my belly and gasped, "Oh my God, you are full of stones!" Before she said 'stones', I just want you to know that I almost had a heart attack because I thought she was going to say 'cancer'....yes, that is just how my brain works...it overreacts!

So guess what, Mr. Gallbladder full of stones!! You are coming out! That is right. Next week I have an appointment with a surgeon and he is going to rid me of my pain. Free me of my misery. Take away my problems...well, maybe not all of them, but you! The main problem in my life right now!

Until then, I suffer. Enjoy your time inside of me, however long or short that may be.

Good riddance, and the sooner, the better!

Painfully and miserably,

Me

Let's Eat! Table Topics Tuesdays!

Photobucket

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life,
what would it be?
My favorite food is Boiled Crawfish!

IMG_2096-1
I know, lots of you are going "Eeewwww!!" But let me tell you, don't knock it 'til you try it!
Seriously!
I enjoy all of the 'Cajun Cuisine" that comes with the heritage of Louisiana.
Honestly, that is all I really love about this state, is the food, but I will not go into that now, that is for a whole blog post in itself!
Anyway, boiled crawfish, crawfish etoufee, fried crawfish, crawfish po-boy. I will take it!
I had some boiled crawfish this past weekend and they were so good. Every year I try to eat some several times, or as much as I can afford them. They are about $20.00 for 5 pounds, already boiled. And yes, I can eat 5 pounds and be pleasantly full.
The best part of eating them is dipping them (once peeled, of course) into a sauce that most people around here make themselves. It consists of a concoction of mayonaise, ketchup, and mustard.
YUM!!!!
So what would you eat if you had to choose one meal to eat the rest of your life?

2010 Ultimate Blog Party!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

Hello and welcome to my blog, Escape Into My Thoughts! This is the place that I make my 'mental escape' and unwind, let loose, complain, share the ups and downs of life and well, you get the picture!

For those of you who are new here, I want to tell you a little bit about myself, just to get this 'party' started!

I am first and foremost, a mother. My two daughters, ages 13 and 10 are my life, my world, and my reason for breathing. I am not really sure if I would be categorized as a 'mommy' blogger because my children were older when I began blogging. However, if I had it to do over again, I definitely would have blogged every moment of life as a first time, newbie mom. Those years were great!

I have been divorced for 3 years now and I work full-time outside the home, for our City Court in this small town we call 'home'. I absolutely love my job. It allows me to have the freedom to be a mom and care for my children and put their needs first and that is very important to me.

Some of my hobbies include reading, blogging (duh!), listening to music, computer stuff (especially facebook) and my all time favorite past time in the whole world....photography! If I could marry my camera, I definitely would! The only thing I do not like about photography is the lack of time I have in the day to dedicate to it.

I do have an additional blog to this one, and of course, it's all about photos! The photos that I enjoy taking, editing and displaying. I would be really thrilled if you took the time to visit!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you will continue to visit!
