I like to have mine 'painted' on. The french tips, that is. I have had the 'fake' ones applied, years back, but they are too much trouble.
This week I had my fingernails and my toenails painted with the french tips. It's much less costly than having the set put on and I love them. They look so CUTE!!

If I'm going for a really special occasion, I will have my nails painted, no fake nails, just polish. Otherwise I don't usually paint them. They chip way too easily too quickly!
I usually do my own toes, and with the short summers we have here, no one usually sees them but me anyway :).
I have had my nails done..a few times..but since I cook alot it was a pain in the butt to chopp anything.
Now..I don't even bother..
However..my toes thats another story.
I have the kit to do a 'french' manicure . So I do that on my toes, and then I have some decorative jewel like things to go ontheir. And when those run out, I steal Lily's because she always has some..(although she sometimes puts them on her face!) haha
I like how the fake nails look, but I agree that they are too much work. And it takes my nails a LONG time to recover once the fakes come off. I paint my fingernails once in awhile, but I'm terrible about picking the polish off. I usually have my toe nails painted.
I do NOT get my nails done. I've seen too many "behind the scenes" investigations regarding the germ factor at the nail salons. I paint my own toe nails :) But I swear, I'm the only mama in my 'hood that doesn't get weekly manis and pedis
I never had a manicure or pedicure until I was 40!! I'm not a girly girl and never really cared about doing it. But, my sister took me with her while I was in Houston visiting and we got pedicures! I LOVED it!! I've only had a few since then, but I have started to paint them myself between actually going to have them done. I like the french tips on my finger nails and usually just get a pretty color on my toenails and ALWAYS get a flower painted on my big toenails!!! They always ask my sister if she wants a flower too and she'll say "no," so I always tell them "yeah, she's not 5 years old like me!"
I love getting manicures and pedicures... I have ugly feet so pretty toenails make me feel better!
I used to do fake nails all the time. Now, it is cost prohibitive. But, I like to paint my toenails in the summer:-)
I've had mine done since I was in high school.. always french fingers and toes.
In the last year I've gone to solar... they are more spendy, but look natural and stay shiny and nice all the way thru to the fill.
I can type faster with them than without.. I function better with them (I think since I've had them for so long)
It's one of the "special" things I do to treat myself. They make me feel pretty!
Only on special occasions. I'm a nail bitter. And not in of those cool scary movie kind of ways.
I like doing my own nails, and only occasionally go to a salon for special events.
I was planning on going before BlogHer boston, but then I lost a fight with a cling-wrap box.
I'm thinking giant finger wounds and manicures probably don't mix, right?
I get my nails done every 4 weeks. It's mandatory. I've been doing it for 18 years and I'm not about to stop now.
