To Be In Style, Or Not

I am not one to follow trends ~ not much, anyway! Some of the things that are considered 'in style' today are absolutely horrid, but I do tend to like a few of the things that the in crowd are wearing these days.

Take these shoes, for example:

I love my comfy-slip-on-go-with-anything-in-style shoes! This is my story, so tell me what you think:

I walked into Payless a few months ago, not really looking for anything in particular, but most likely I would want some flip-flops, because I love them and they are what I wear the most in the summer months (in the winter months too, but you get my drift). So I come across this pair of shoes that I've seen many a teenager sporting, and I think to myself....'Self, you could wear these shoes, they are so totally you!' Now, I am not into the color white, especially when it comes to clothing of any sort, but particularly not shoes! So I stand there a second and check out the price tag....$20!! Well, that sold me, that and the fact that they were IN STYLE!!

So I bought them, and without hesitation. Because I like them, people!!

Now, most of my friends have the same sense of style as me (even though my sense is not that stylish all of the time) and for the most part I got comments like these:

"Oh, I love those shoes, they are so cute! Where'd you get them?"

"I really like those shoes, they are all the rave right now."

"I want some just like that, I love them!!"

Thank you my dear friends, people on the street, family, whoever you may be!

As for you peeps who did not like my shoes, I say hmmpphh!

Let me tell you, there are people out there that will flat out tell you (and to your face, no less) that they don't like something adorning your body!! I got comments like these:

"You actually bought those shoes like that?" Um, yes, you have a problem with that? ( No, that is only what I wanted to say, but I was thinking it whilst trying not to bear my teeth at them.)

"Those shoes came like that? With no shoelaces and all fringed like that?" Um, yes again, dear rude person. You don't likey, don't lookey!!

"Oh my goodness, how much did you pay for those things?" Well, oh about $100! (Again, no I didn't tell them that, I told the truth, but I sure would have liked to see their face if I had!)

Needless to say, I love my shoes and just what do you all (honestly) think about them?? It's ok if you don't like them, I am over my little 'tantrum' about my shoes. :-P

I like them and I bet they look cute on you. I need some new shoes too--I mostly wear crocs, esp my LSU ones. They are the most comfortable.

Ok, going out on a limb here and saying I don't really like them, but only because they are not me. My taste runs more to the structured side of preppy. If you love them, who cares what the heck I think??

I once wore a much-loved pair of red patent high heeled Mary Janes to dinner at a friend's house. The response I got was, "Wow. Those are... some shoes..."

Gee, thanks.

I love those shoes, so thhbt!

It's ok if someone doesn't have the same tastes as me, because that is what makes the world go round. However, I asked opinions of them here, nobody in real life (that cut them down) was asked for their opinions.....ha! :P

I think they are cute, as for me I am a flip flop girl, I will go as far as saying, if I can't wear my flip flops somewhere, than I don't really need to be at that place, ha ha ha!!

I'm always amazed at what people will say. They are missing the "edit" button in their brain for sure.

I have a medical condition that causes pain in my feet so I wear super comfortable shoes and I don't care what they look like. Your shoes look wonderful, comfy and cool.
